Alright, skull number dos! I’m definitely better with a pencil than with a tablet. Apologies for the bad scan. Hmmm…this skull is still more stylized than I would like. Also my shading could be more detailed. But overall I like this one. I think tomorrow I’ll break down the skull and draw the individual elements (eye sockets, jawbone, nostrils, teeth). Hopefully this will help me to understand the skull more intimately. Well anyway, hope you enjoy. See you tomorrow!

Alright, the theme for this month (March) is skulls. I figured that it would be pretty useful since the skull is the framework for the head, so the better you are at drawing skulls the easier heads will be. Here is the first drawing. Right off the bat I can tell that I need more practice, especially around the cheek bones and eyes. Next time I will include the lower jaw as well. Also the shading is not the greatest and could definitely be more realistic. Well, I still have 23 more skulls to draw so hopefully I’ll just keep getting better from here *fingers crossed*.

So if you don’t already know, I go to art school and I want to be a career artist (Animator or Illustrator). Well me and my friend Patrick (we’re both art students) decided that we don’t draw enough, so we gave ourselves a little challenge. We will pick a single subject, like skulls or dogs or arms or whatever, and draw one picture everyday of that subject until we enter a new month. Every month we pick a new subject to draw for that month. The point is to obviously improve and also to make a habit out of practicing everyday, specifically practicing things we are not particularly great at drawing. So anyway feel free to follow me on my journey as I hopefully hone my skills and have fun too. Thanks!
